Villa Igiea, Romantic Hotel in Sicily

Hospitality

A fabled 19th-century palazzo, Villa Igiea is set in a breathtaking seaside location on the outskirts of Palermo, one of the most beautiful and historic places on the island of Sicily. Converted to a luxury hotel in 1900, the villa has enjoyed a romantic, storied past, as its sublime setting and year-round balmy weather drew international royalty, film stars, artists and writers, and captains of industry for over a century.

Following Rocco Forte Hotels’ acquisition of the property in 2019, Philip Vergeylen, Paolo Moschino, and our Design Studio have overseen its meticulous restoration, transforming the landmark palazzo for a new era of glamour. They restored the architectural detail of Villa Igiea’s 100 rooms and suites and furnished them with a stylish mix of classic and contemporary pieces; the charming, spacious bathrooms now offer every modern convenience. The hotel’s overall aesthetic is light, fresh, and delightfully Sicilian, with locally crafted elements such as elegant parquet floors, colorful handmade tiles, and exquisite Carrara-marble surfaces helping to maintain a cool atmosphere even in the steamiest of summers.
